The smell that instantly takes you back to grandmas, the feel of the warmest blanket from mom when you are having a bad day, the amazing taste of Sunday dinner with family. What do they all have in common? Comfort, Love and the ever-ending feeling of safety.
These are memories that our brains have recognized for just that. Most of the time it’s a good memory of comfort and love, but occasionally the comfort comes from just wanting to feel better and what results can be actually devastating and debilitating. What if I said that you could have that amazing, love and comfort with you all the time? Surrounding yourself with similarities will still have your brain sensing the same emotions and can elevate you in so many ways.
Some aromatherapy that brings about being at grandmas. Having a warm shawl, blanket or even the softest shirt while you are working. Bringing in the ingredients to make a rendition of that Sunday meal. These are brining in to your surroundings feelings that your brain will recognize and then release the hormones that make us feel safe, secure and loved.
The Carb Complex…
High carb, low carb, no carb, carb loading…
WHAT THE CARB?
Which way is a girl to go?
The dreaded thought that is either never talked about, or talked about how to avoid it! So, lets talk carbs!
Carbohydrates are the fuel or gas per say that you ingest or put in your car to have energy to go from one place to another or one activity to the other. With that being said take a step back and let that sink in.
Having a hard time wrapping that around your head, go grab a snack (nuts, seeds, grains, greens, fruits or vegetables) then come back.
Okay, now that you can focus, let’s get back to it. Carbohydrates are fuel not only for your muscles, but your BRAIN! Your brain uses complex carbohydrates to maintain focus and to think and to keep you safe! Now I said it. Complex Carbohydrate. So now that I said it, let’s break it down. Simply put you can breakdown carbohydrates into 2 categories, “simple” and “complex”
White bread Whole grains
White pasta Nuts
White flour Seeds
Sugary cereal Legumes
Candy Leafy greens
Refined or processed versions Vegetables
While both are broken down and used for energy, the simple version does not have the fiber or vitamins and minerals that your body needs to sustain function. With the simple form you will get a boost, but then quickly crash and need another “fix” to feel the same energy and focus, and if you are not eating “carbs” at all, your body is sluggish, tired, over stimulated yet unmotivated and concentrating on something will take forever, let alone if you are running on a treadmill or have heavy weights above your head.
Real, whole food is essential for your best potential. Forbidding an entire food group isn’t the answer. Empowering yourself to enjoy your food and creating a wonderful new relationship is a recipe for success.
The most amazing introduction of your life!
Right here, right now, today! Say hello to the person who is, and will always be there. Acknowledge, embrace, be kind to and love.
It’s okay to be nervous, but it’s time to cherish who you are, and look in the mirror and say Hello!
Today is the introduction and after that is done, it’s as simple as -hello- every day!
With in 6-8 weeks your brain recognizes your new set habits.
Follow along, as I will be showing you a system that will have you thinking of how our habits are shaping our mind and body.
Millions of mind numbing books and information, the never ending infomercials, the new and improved gummy, and the unnatural drive to want to be able to jump on a 10 foot box, has your head spinning in a million directions, and all you can say to yourself is “I don’t think we are in Kansas anymore Toto”.
The so-called wellness revolution is in full force and not in the way that makes you feel good, and even has you guessing all that you have done and are wondering why it’s working for everyone but you. Trying to go through the piles and piles of information is simply exhausting!
Step back, take a deep breath, and remind yourself “it is going to be okay”.
The first step into any new adventure is to look at yourself in the way that you don’t want anyone to look at you. Why are you trying this, what is it going to do for me, where will it leave me, how is this going to help me in my ultimate goal.
If you are like me, I have done and tried it all. The just not eating, the only drinking liquids, to weight watchers, to I totally give up and now I am depressed. The only good thing about my depression was I had no appetite and the weight fell off. Even being a registered nurse and knowing that what I was doing was going to affect me in ways I wouldn’t let myself think about, I did it anyway. I wanted to fit in the clothes that only a negative 0 could fit into.
Years of trying anything and everything: too much cardio, not enough cardio, some weights, but not heavy because I didn’t want to bulk and look like a guy. It was one quick fix after the other and let me tell you, the only thing I accomplished was letting my inner me think that I wasn’t good enough.
Marketing has made me and I assume you feel like that, and now that you can’t listen to the radio, go to a bookstore, or even watch a TV show without something screaming at you about how you can change everything about you with this new and improved simple pill, potion, powder or skinny thinking movement, most are back to the proverbial drawing board.
Now is your time! Take a look at yourself and remember most importantly…
YOU ARE ENOUGH!!
With that being said, how did I get there? The real and in-depth look of believing in yourself, enjoying the adventure, and getting to the best of you, wasn’t easy and it is continuous. First step, stop listening to the little voice that is telling you that you are not. You are perfect in your own way. Next, think about the for real result of a pill/potion. This more than wants to loose a few pounds. It’s about living a rich life of joy and feeling energized and taking in all that this life has to offer. Take the trip, go for a hike, swim with whatever animal that excites you. Once you start to think in a new mindset, watch how the world around you will fulfill you, and how your “wellness” will start to transform.
